Romford Ice Hockey awards evening successes………..

The players, management, volunteers and fans of the Romford Buccaneeers and Romford Raiders enjoyed a lively awards evening at our hosts the Dagenham Football Club in Victoria Road on the evening of Friday 3rd May.

Thanks to Dave Falconer who organised the venue and entertainment and to Tanya Ayliffe who organised an impressive “spread” and room decorations

Thanks to Gavin for the Raiders awards and trophies and to Lindsey for recording the photographs.

The Buccs awards were first up and Jason Buckman, assisted by Louise Capps presented the awards and some well chosen words for the following players of the year.

The Raiders awards continued the trophy giving and again one player was dominant taking the majority of available awards.

Presented by Sean Easton the awards were

Forward of the year
Adam Laishram was the award winner, with runners up mentioned for Jake Sylvester and Tjay Anderson.

Defence of the year
Jack Cooper was the award winner, but by a very close margin to Thomas Relf and Elliott Dewey and Marco Pascale gettting honeourable mentions.

Supporters player of the year
Adam Laishram was again the run away winner of this award, with Tjay Anderson and Brandon Ayliffe the closest competition for the fans choice.

Players player of the year
This valued award split the Raiders room and in the end no decision could be made to separate Adam Laishram and Jack Cooper.

Coach’s player of the year
Coach Sean Easton presented his awards and again Adam Laishrams work rate and points production were difficult to ignore.

Gary “pieman” King goal of the season
After replaying the shortlisted goals the winning effort was attributed to Tjay Anderson for this new award in the memory of popular fan Gary King.


The evening’s formalities concluded with well deserved mentions of all those that play a big part in keeping the Raiders operating out of the Sapphire and on the road. More details on this follow in a post specifically thanking the Raiders back room staff.

And then the dancing began……………………….

A great evening for the two senior teams of the Romford hockey club to gather and celebrate what they have in common.
