Raiders take a point, but feel they should have had more

February 10, 2024

Raiders were frustrated to be taken to overtime by the League leaders Leeds Knights as a 4-3 lead looked like it may be enough with under 5 minutes to play.

A stunning Adam Laishram wrap around had the crowd in raptures and seemed to be a deserving game winning goal. A late roughing minor on Blaho Novak changed the game however and Leeds equalised on the powerplay to send the game into overtime.

Suffering a soft tripping call on new man Jesper Eriksson which extended into overtime, Leeds were going to be on the front foot and so it proved.

A slow start by the Raiders cost them the 2 goal first period, but from then on were clearly the better more motivated team and just couldn’t get the deserved win.

That performance will give a great deal of energy for the Hull Seahawks on Sunday and it looks like that game may well be a classic Romford encounter.
