Romford Ice Hockey Academy (RIHA)

The Raiders National League team management are delighted to announce the formation of the Romford Ice Hockey Academy. This is a natural evolution of the old Romford Junior Ice Hockey Club into part of the Raiders National League organisation.

This holding page will be updated over the coming weeks till the initial site for the Academy is published. This will include articles and links to include information regarding the management, coaching, assistant coaches etc for:-

Under 10 Rascals

Under 12 Raptors

Under 14 Hurricanes

Under 16 Hornets

Under 18 Spitfires

National Ice Hockey League Division 1
Buccaneers

The management are sure that the junior system will prosper from this top to bottom refresh as we seek a more transparent system and cooperation between the Raiders and the Academy and a greater input from the senior team and players in the youth development process.

The initial stages will start with a request for volunteers from the existing club members to join the management committee and also for coaching of the various age groups to work with the Academy’s head coach. Think you have some time and can bring something to the Academy? Then please contact us on info@romfordiha.com

We shall also create new and renamed social media channels and work with the membership on social events to bring the National Raiders and the Academy closer both on and off the ice.

We are delighted to announce the return in a coaching role for Andrius Kaminskas. Andrius has agreed to step up to be head coach covering all the junior age groups, working closely with the head coaches at each age and also the Buccaneers and club head coach Sean Easton.

Andrius has a great background playing as both a forward and defenceman for Raiders and other “EPL” teams as well as representing Lithuania at junior and senior level. Welcome back “Bomber”.

Not satisfied with announcing the return of one versatile ex-Raider we are also delighted to announce the return of Jason Buckman as head coach of the second senior team. Jason did a great job of coaching the Raiders div1 team last season with his boys pulling off many wins against the form book. “Bucky” returns to the re-named Buccaneers with the headline of “Bucky’s Buccs” surely only a newapaper away. Welcome back Jason.

The team building continues from here with Sean Easton, Louise Capps, and the senior coaches working to fill the gaps in the on and off ice personnel.
