Whilst the team and fan base were still hovering on the high of beating Hull and Swindon in the National league, a huge great fall was experienced, levelling any cockiness, as we let slip a 2 goal lead at Basingstoke and saw 8 incoming goals with no reply as Leeds gained their first two points with a 0-4 scoreline after Basingstoke performed another comeback with a 2-4 win.
Neither game was without significant numbers of chances for the guys in Blue Saturday and then Gold on Sunday. But playing the number of minutes short handed that Raiders are enduring, mostly due to indisciplined behaviour, isn’t making the task any easier. Even his normal acrobatics in goal were not enough for Michael Gray to save our blushes and as we dust ourselves down and reset, that weekend is about to be relegated to a distant memory.
So it is great to have not just one but two chances this weekend to try to make amends for what has already been hailed as one of the poorest displays at the Sapphire.
Peterborough are our guests on Saturday 19th for the first meeting between the teams this season. Raiders and the Phantoms have exchanged wins and losses these past two seasons since the leagues merged and Raiders will be keen to see if our strengthened roster will fare any better than usual against the unchanged Phantoms.

On Sunday it is the chance to see what is effectively another “brand new” team as the Milton Keynes lightning re-appear, dispense with a bench full of accents, and start again in the latest version of the “EPL” after a brief dabble with the Elite League.
