Raiders get ready for another big weekend

January 5, 2023

After a successful Festive season, collecting 4 wins out of 6 games Raiders head into the second weekend of 2023 facing two teams above them in the National League.

Sitting in 6th place Raiders travel to 5th placed Swindon on Saturday knowing this game could be the springboard to take them above the Wiltshire based Wildcats when the games in hand have been played out.

Then on Sunday it is back to normal days and times at Romford’s Sapphire as a 5:15 face off beckons against the Milton Keynes lightning who are presently in a three team battle for league leadership.

Raiders sit perfectly central in the league having not lost a game to those 5 teams lower in the league, but equally haven’t won a game against the teams above them. And coach Sean Easton readily admits that now is the time to start taking points off the top 5, whilst maintaining the unbeaten run against the bottom 5. Last season Raiders managed to beat every single team in the league but still finished in the bottom places.

The 29 games and 29 points this season at the half way point is another indicator of the improvement the Raiders have made to lift themselves from their traditional bottom of the league status.

Doors open on Sunday at 4:30pm in preparation for the first puck drop at 5:15pm and tickets are still available on the door by card or cash, but be warned Milton Keynes do travel in strength so be sure to have your shouting voice ready and willing.
