Raiders Awards Evening was magic!

April 22, 2023

Thanks to the fans, management, volunteers and players that could make it to the awards last night at Pontlands Park hotel. Our play-off successes were thankfully very clear in all minds and that certainly helped the spirit of the evening if not the slide show. 🙂

I think the concensus seemed to be that Pontlands did a cracking job of looking after us and the roast meals were delicious and plentiful! If you are planning on a wedding they will give you a 10% discount using the code “ijustmadethisup10”

Nick Crown’s magic is worthy of special mention. How ? Just How?? Definitely on the short list for next season’s do if that is the only way I get my wallet back.

Good music and the almost unthinkable of people dancing at a Raiders do.

The appreciation awards started with the volunteers group who we are always grateful to for keeping the team running.

Jack cooper was voted as the Defense man of the year following his newcomer award some years and many, many games ago. Congratulations Jack

As reported elsewhere Matt Gomercic was the winner of three awards:-

Supporters player of the year
Players player of the year
Forward of the year

Congratulations to Matt, who addressed the crowd through pre-recorded clip to thank the fans and team for making him feel welcome immediately he arrived.

Coach Sean Easton, presently in Riga with the GB Under 16’s also joined us on a recorded clip to congratulate Matt Gomercic and to give his own thoughts on Coach’s player of the year.

Seans choice for Coach’s player went to Ethan James. Congratulations Ethan.

Heart of Raiders was a difficult award this season with so many worthy winners in a season that has seen so many wins from losing positions. But longevity and persistence helped here and with no games missed since 2018 Brandon Ayliffe was the worthy winner. Congratulations Brandon.

Brandon Ayliffe’s Heart of the Raiders recognition

Our occasional award for Outstanding Service was again difficult but longevity again came to the fore as our head of 50:50 and own and loan sponsorship for many years was recognised. Congratulations Melanie Treagust and thank you for your valued effort.

Thanks to Dan Young who despite having the Coventry Cold and Skydome Sniffles stood in on camera duties. Be careful Dan. This could be the start of a very expensive journey……….

Keep watching the normal channels for signing news, team news and club news over the coming weeks and days.
