Home fixtures for the coming season

July 21, 2021

Raiders are delighted to start putting some normality back into the hockey and life planning by announcing the fixtures for the 2021-2022 season for the NIHL National League.

As previously announced the pre-season starts with the Everyone Active Cup vs Bees followed by a challenge pairing with the Basingstoke Bison. The Everyone Active Cup will be decided on aggregate score over the weekend so we could get to an overtime period at the Sapphire in the very first game back for the fans!

The next 4 weeks are taken up by the Autumn Cup competition where we have the unusual situation of playing each team just once, with some being on the road and some being at home. Points scored in the Autumn Cup initial games will decide which teams head into the knock out stages.

It’s then onto league action with generally the first home and away result against each team also counting towards the league cup competition. That will again lead to semi finals and finals for the qualifying teams.

The league fixtures will seem quiten uncomplicated compared with the above but will see us run quite late into the year by normal standards.

Playoffs will take us to the end of April with the Coventry finals being set for the Bank Holiday weekend of 30th April / 1st May, possibly the first time we have seen the grand finals weekend reaching into May. In a show of considerable wisdom the Bank Holiday Monday is available for recovery for those that have celebrated a bit too hard.
