Two more local returnees as Raiders’ roster builds further on its Junior system roots

May 8, 2023

Romford’s heritage in attracting to and building from the home grown products of its development system couldn’t be more evident than this pair of returnees.

Now 22, Mikey Power was back at the Sapphire last season performing a versatile role at both a forward and on the blue line when needed by Coach Sean Easton. His return this season had a lot to do with last season’s successes.

“The room was one of the tightests i’ve played in by the time the season ended; we really came together. It definitely was a factor in my decision to re-sign.

“I knew we had a good team and that we had a chance to go all the way. Once you make play-offs any team can get “hot” and make a run to win it all. From the start I knew we had everything we needed.

“It looks like it will be tougher this year with Basingstoke dormant for a season and the players going to different teams. All the lower teams seem to be improving so it should make the league more competetive.

And back for a 7th season Raiders are delighted to also announce 25 year old Callum Wells. In 58 appearance last season Callum bettered his Raiders’ points return record with 2 goals and 9 assists whilst providing plenty of protection for his team mates accounting for 99 penalty minutes. All this whilst providing some solid D in the most competetive National season to date.

“We had an amazing last season and I cant wait to see what next season brings. Glad to be back in the Gold and Blue”

Welcome back to another solid pair of additions as the coaching team see a consistent and familiar base as a vital part of the coming season successes.
