Roberts is a Raider la la la lahhh……..

December 2, 2022

With the long term unavailability of Erik Piatak, and the uncertain availability of Adam Laishram, Raiders are delighted to be able to welcome 28 year old Canadian Alex Roberts to the Gold and Blue by way of this slightly over due update.

Alex’s availability was perfectly timed, given other player movements, after his short stint with the Bristol Pitbulls where he averaged a point a game whilst the team struggled for results.

Alex began his hockey career in  British Columbia with Vancouver NW Giants where he scored 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points in 46 appearances, before moving around Canada for five seasons playing for teams in Provincial JHL in Ontario; Saskatchewan JHL and Alberta JHL making a total of 224 appearances scoring 70 goals and 64 assists for 134 points.

In 2015 Alex played for Utica College in New York State where he made 44 NCAA appearances, scoring nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points.

After a year out of hockey, Alex moved to UK in 2018 to join Streatham IHC where in 43 appearances, he scored 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points, earning him a place on the NIHL All Star first line.

He then moved to France for a season with Mont Blanc where he made 23 appearances scoring 15 goals and 5 assists for 20 points returning to the UK to play for Basingstoke Bison last season for whom he made 62 appearances averaging 1.5 points per game scoring 52 goals and 40 assists for 92 points.

He is now a Raider and will be working hard with coach Sean Easton and the rest of the squad to become a productive second “import” for the rest of the season.

Welcome aboard Alex!
