It has been a protracted process but we are at last delighted to announce that we are able to extend a warm Gold & Blue return to 24 year old Lukas Sladkovsky who is back for a second (hopefully full) season for Raiders .
In his debut season in 2019-2020 Lukas was one of the seven ever-present “Ironmen” for the Raiders, averaging just over a point a game with 54 points (24 goals and 30 assists) in his 52 appearances. His 54 points saw him third in points scoring behind just Aaron Connolly and Erik Piatak. His 54 points has also earned him a place in the Top 100 all time point scorers for the Raiders, currently sitting in 98th place, one place behind team mate Dan Scott. We are sure he will shoot up that chart in the next 8 months.
Lukas joined Raiders having spent the previous 2018/19 season split between HC Orlova and HC Tabor both of whom play in Czech Division 3 scoring a total of 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points.
Lukas played the majority of his junior career for Sparta Prague averaging a point a game at Under 16 and Under 18 levels. For their Under 20 team, Lukas made 53 appearances scoring 23 goals and 7 assists for 30 points. Lukas also had a season in GMHL League in Ontario Canada for Bracebridge Phantoms scoring 21 goals and 27 assists for 48 points.
In 2014/15 he had half a season in German NL2 for Landshut Under 19 averaging nearly 1.5 points per game and at Under 20 level scored 28 goals and 13 assists for 41 points in 21 appearances for MHC Martin in Slovakia Under 20 Division 2
Lukas’s senior career has seen him play for HC Slovan Usti nad Labem in Czech Division 2 and HC Decin in Czech 3 before a season playing in Federal Hockey League (FHL) splitting the season between North Shore Knights (in Canada) ; Watertown Wolves (USA) and Cornwall Nationals (Canada) making a total of 18 games scoring 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points.
Sean Easton is delighted to finally have his man signed up as he summarised:-
“Lukas is a very highly skilled player, plays the game the right way with a physical edge. We will be leaning on Lukas this year to increase his point tally from his first year in British hockey and I am sure he will rise to the challenge.”
Lukas is glad the suspense is over with a successful outcome.
“First I want to say is that I’m happy the Raiders organization offered me to come back to play and re-sign for another season and play in front of the best fans in the league. I’m excited to be back on the ice soon. Can’t wait to see all the boys in the locker room also with couple new faces and hopefully we will have a long season going through the play-offs this year.
“I’ve been training almost every day since our government allowed people to go back to the gym and other sports facilities. I was working hard to be in the best shape I could and be ready for this upcoming season.
“The only league in Czech that’s been played and finished was the Czech Extraleague. No fans were allowed to the games and rules were very strict. Other leagues have been played as well but they didn’t finish because of how many Covid cases we’ve had at the beginning of the year in the Czech Republic”.
See you all soon!
Welcome back Lukas
