A new signing. Reid all about it!

July 21, 2022

Raiders are pleased to welcome a new face to the blue line as 20 year old  D-man Ethan Reid joins  for the forthcoming season after a year with Chelmsford Chieftains.

Ethan moved to Murrrayfield in 2015 to play at Under 16 level after a spell at North Ayrshire Predators. At Murrayfield, Ethan made 48 appearance at Under 16 and Under 20 level scoring 63 goals and 60 assists for 123 points. Ethan also made 25 appearances at Conference level for Scotland scoring 4 goals and 2 assists. In 2015, Ethan was selected to the Conference All Star Team.

Selected to play for Great Britain Under 18 at the Junior World Championship in 2019, making five appearances, he was also selected twice to play for Scotland Under 19 in the Annual Challenge against England.

Ethan made his senior debut for Murrayfield Racers in SNL and in two seasons, Ethan made 54 appearances, scoring 10 goals and 33 assists, helping his team to become SNL Champions in 2018/19 and win THE NIHL North 1 Cup in 2019/20

After the cancelled Covid season, Ethan joined Chelmsford where he made 4 appearances for Warriors scoring 2 goals and two assists, before stepping up to earn a regular spot in the Chieftains defence making 39 appearances scoring 4 goals and 33 assists for 37 points. His 28 assists in league games was the highest by a d-man in NIHL S1 last season.

Sean Easton is aware of Ethan’s strengths.

“Ethan has a cool, calm and collected head on his shoulders. No panic in his game and he prides himself on his first outlet pass.

“He’s a smooth skating Dman who will make smart plays all over the ice.

“it’s been 4 years since I worked with Ethan in the GB U18 Gold Medal winning team and I am really looking forwards to working with him again

Ethan was keen to see if the positive things he had heard were accurate.

After speaking with a few ex-Raiders player;  Matt Turner, Andrew Munroe and Michael Gray, along with catching a few games last year it sounds and looks like a great place to play.

On his targets for this season:-

“Moving up a league from the Chieftains I’m looking to carry on adding offensively as-well as defensively. Having worked with Sean in GB, seeing the team that he has built, and hearing about the plans for the coming season in Romford it was a no brainer.

I’m looking forward to getting the season started, competing for some silver wear and meeting everyone.”

Welcome to Romford, Ethan
